A tweet shared by BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malaviya is doing the rounds on social media with a claim that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asked India’s flag to be taken down. See the post shared on X (formerly Twitter) here:
The caption reads: “Rahul Gandhi asks India’s flag to be taken down…
This is straight out of George Soros’s rule book, where he asks his protégée to insult and demean everything Indian.(sic)”

FACT CHECK
Since this is part of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, we took key frames and checked for the original video on Indian National Congress party’s Youtube Channel and found that the clip was from Dondaicha, Maharashtra. Watch the original video from 11:10 to 11:25 to see what happened actually.
Rahul Gandhi can be seen asking for a stick to narrate to a person how the common man is being misled. When he asked for the stick, the flag was removed and the stick was handed over to demonstrate. So, Rahul Gandhi did not ask for the Indian flag to be taken down, which is an insult to the Tricolour. Instead, he was seen asking the Congress supporter waving the flag to hand him over a stick. Hence, a false claim.
Claim: Rahul Gandhi asks India’s flag to be taken down
Conclusion: False. Rahul Gandhi was clearly seen asking for the stick and not asking the Tricolour to be taken down.
