FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and discovered that the clip is not real. The reel has been generated by AI, as confirmed from the behaviour of it and the results of an AI checker.
Firstly, as the boat leans over 45 degrees, passengers on the deck neither fall nor appear to be worried. In physics, such a severe tilt on an overcrowded vessel would likely cause immediate capsizing, mass panic, or people falling overboard.
After conducting a reverse image search of the keyframes from the reel, we were directed to other fake videos. These can be viewed here, here and here, uploaded by random channels without any context or credible evidence. View a screenshot of one clip below –
The whole structure of the boat itself is impractical with people sitting on the edges and hanging from the balconies. All of these fake videos are accompanied with a similar background sound of a person screaming.
When we searched for reports on this with the phrase “overcrowded multi-decker river boat almost sinks,” there were no results. No news reports align with the reel’s implied event. If real, there would be a media coverage, eyewitness accounts or viral shares from credible sources, which are absent in this event.
We also ran the image through an AI detection tool and the results confirmed that this was AI generated.

Thus, the evidence strongly indicates the video is AI-generated and no such event actually happended.
