FACT CHECK

When Digiteye India team took it up for fact-checking, first we took out key frames from the video and conducted a Google Reverse Image Search only to find that the video was an old one uploaded on Sept. 10, 2023 by Kann News, a Hebrew TV channel. Tweeting the video, the channel said the incident pertaining to Ayalon highway in Tel Aviv. The driver explained to cops that his son, a new driver, had been driving the car before he got overwhelmed by the protesters blocking the road. The father, in the front passenger seat, decided to switch seats with his son, but accidentally hit the gas when he was moving into the driver’s seat, causing the car to jolt forward into the protesters.

The incident was reported in The Times Of Israel with the same cover image of the video. The incident resulted in several people getting thrown aside while a 25-year-old woman sustained injuries. The driver of the car was detained by police and released after his submission that it was an accident.

Claim: An Israeli settler’s car ran over the Israeli protesters amid Israel-Hamas Conflict.

Conclusion: An old, unrelated video of an accident when a car running over a group of protestors protesting against the judicial overhaul reforms in Israel and the driver was not an Israeli  settler.
