Did ABP News survey show 142 seats for YSRCP in 175-seat AP Assembly? Fact Check

A survey of Andhra Pradesh Assembly election outcome is being shared on social media attributing it to ABP News. It claims that the ruling YSRCP may get 142 seats, while the Opposition alliance of Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena will get 33 seats. See the visual being shared on Twitter here:

FACT CHECK

As we checked for the original survey report conducted by ABP News, we came across a denial by ABP News on its website stating that there was no such survey conducted by the news outlet. Terming the claim as FAKE, ABP News on February 29, 2024 issued a “Fake News Alert” and underscored that ABP Live and CVoter have not published any such data related to the upcoming state assembly elections.

The denial report said, “A social media post containing and bearing the image of ABP Live is going viral on social media platforms. ABP Network or any other subsidiary has not released any such data regarding Andhra Pradesh Assembly Election 2024… Contrary to the claims made in the viral post, ABP Live and CVoter have not issued any such projections or data regarding the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections 2024.”

Hence, the visual has been fabricated to claim that YSRCP may win 142 seats in upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

Claim: ABP News survey graphic shows YSRCP winning AP Assembly elections with 142 out of 175 seats.

Conclusion: False. The viral opinion poll graphic showing 142 seats for YSRCP is fabricated as ABP denied it had conducted such a survey.

Rating: Misrepresentation —
