FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. No credible evidence supports the allegation that the woman used a belly button or any device to control or wake up Trump. Her hand-on-stomach gesture is consistent with her pregnancy which she publicly confirmed in an X post, providing a straightforward explanation and undermining the rumour.

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the origin. The search took us to a Youtube video posted by the White House on 10th August, 2026, titled : “President Trump Signs an Executive Order, Aug. 10, 2026.” In the beginning of the video, Trump says that this executive order is regarding childhood vaccinations recommendations.

The moment shared in the claim is taken from the 17:20 timestamp, when NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya discusses the importance of shifting the focus toward understanding the biological causes of autism. President Trump is seen sitting with his eyes closed and wakes up at the 17:28 timestamp, while the woman’s hand is still on her belly. However, there are no visible devices, wires, buttons or remotes to suggest that she is controlling him.

The woman in the video is Jayme Franklin, whom Trump describes at the 1:16 timestamp as one of the administration’s “MAHA [Make America Healthy Again] moms.” She begins speaking at 26:09, stating that she is the mother of a three-and-a-half-year-old child and is pregnant with another child. She further expresses her gratitude to the President and Secretary Kennedy for their focus on health and parental choice regarding childhood vaccinations.

Lastly, we searched for any official response from Jayme Franklin regarding these accusations and came across her X post. Posted on August 12, 2026, she wrote: “I’m just pregnant, you weirdos.” This provides a simple, non-conspiratorial explanation for the gesture, as she had also stated during her remarks that she was pregnant.

This is not the first time President Trump has appeared to fall asleep during meetings in the Oval Office. On June 5, 2026, MS NOW shared a video in which Trump appeared to fall asleep during an Oval Office meeting. The White House had previously responded to similar accusations on X, denying that he had fallen asleep.

Thus, the claim is false.
