FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. There is no credible evidence supporting this claim and China has not issued any threat or announced any such move against Israel. China’s official remarks on the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict have instead centered on diplomacy.

Details:

We first conducted a web search using the phrase “China plans to call Israel to stop the Iran war” to learn more about the claim. However, we did not find any reports from media outlets or official statements from China indicating such a claim. There are no references to China issuing a direct ultimatum or threatening Israel with a “heavy price.”

Following this, we came across a report published by CGTN on 13 May 2026 regarding China’s role in mediating the Iran war. The report noted that “Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday called on Pakistan to step up mediation efforts and contribute to properly addressing issues related to opening the Strait of Hormuz.” In response, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar “thanked China for its support of Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue” and expressed willingness to continue cooperation. Upon searching further, we landed on a Reuters report published back on March 3, 2026 when  Foreign Minister Wang Yi ‌ spoke to Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar. Chinese FM Yi said that China opposes the military strikes launched by Israel and the US against Iran and called for an “immediate cessation of hostilities.” He also stated that “force cannot truly solve problems” and warned that military action often “creates new ones and leaves serious long-term consequences.”

Yi further emphasized that China supports resolving international and regional disputes through “dialogue and negotiation” and said China would continue to play a “constructive role” in easing tensions in the region. Nowhere in the report did China threaten Israel or warn of any “heavy price.” View a section from the report below –

Lastly, we searched for the recent statements released by China’s foreign ministry to check for any such statements made in the claim. According to a press briefing published on May 8, 2026, China stated that it “maintains communication and exchanges at various levels with all parties concerned including Israel.” The spokesperson added that China supports parties in “resolving differences and disputes through political and diplomatic” means.  DigitEYE India found no proof of any “heavy price” threats or aggression by China towards Israel.

Thus, the claim is false.
