Did Turkey release stamp on Modi after India’s help in earthquake relief operations? Fact Check

An image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a stamp is being shared on social media with a claim that the Turkish government has released a special postage stamp to thank the Indian PM as a mark of gratitude for the country’s help after the recent earthquake in Turkey. It is being shared here and here.

FACT CHECK

When we searched the Turkish Post official website here, we found that Turkey has not released any such stamp in the recent past on Modi. Further search results on Google show that a commemorative stamp to mark the G20 Antalya Summit in Turkey was released on 15th November 2015 that has all the portraits of G20 leaders including the Indian PM.

The special postage stamps released by The Turkish Post featuring G20 leaders that was tweeted by the ‘G20 Turkey’ Twitter handle on 18 November 2015 and has been re-used to claim that Turkey has released a new stamp after India’s help in relief operations after the disastrous earthquake on 6th February 2023.

Hence, the claim that the Turkish government has released a postal stamp as a mark of gratitude towards PM Narendra Modi for providing help during the recent earthquake was false.
