FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. The image appears to be AI-generated and there is no evidence that such an incident ever took place. No credible reports or real-world documentation support the claim.
We first conducted a reverse image search on the image to learn about the origin but did not find anything. A web search with the phrase “SRH players praying to Jesus” did not yield any credible reports. SRH’s official channels like that on Instagram and Facebook do not feature any image like this.
Next, we closely analyzed the image and found several inconsistencies, beginning with the Mumbai Indians cooler box. The players are wearing Sunrisers Hyderabad jerseys, yet the setup includes a Mumbai Indians cooler and branding. Players from one team praying in the opponent’s dugout during a live match makes no practical sense.
The dugout area is cluttered unrealistically with gears fitted in cupboard-like structures that make no sense. The crucifix and the candle clearly look digitally inserted rather than naturally present in the scene. There is a clear spelling mistake where Sunrisers is misspelled as “Sonresers” in the stands. Moreover, Dream 11 is not a sponsor for SRH in this IPL 2026 season yet the players are wearing their branding. According to the sponsor list released, the key partners of SRH are Kuhl, BKT Tyres and Jio. View a screenshot of this below –

Lastly, we took the image in the claim and ran it through Hive Moderation’s AI detector to check its authenticity. The results proved that the image is likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content. View the screenshot of the results below –

Thus, the claim is false.
