No, US train did not sport Ambedkar’s poster as claimed; Fact Check

An image showing a poster of B R Ambedkar on a train in the United States is doing the rounds on social media with a claim that America has put Babasaheb’s poster on them and that India’s “manuwadi media” is not covering the news.

(What India could not do, America did it, Babasaheb’s poster was put on America’s longest distance train. But India’s manuwadi media will not show this news – Jai Bhim.)

It has been shared here, here and here.

FACT CHECK

The train is familiar in India and a closer look shows that it looks like a metro coach and not a train of the US. A search on Google for metro trains in India showed that the image was superimposed on a Delhi metro image. Here’s the original Delhi Metro and the super-imposed poster on it.

The original picture can be seen here and the logo is clearly that of Delhi Metro and not any US train as per the claim. Moreover, any such move would have been covered widely by the Indian media and no such news is available from any credible source of news to confirm the claim.

Some typical US high-speed trains look entirely different from what was shown in the claim. See the image here:

Hence, the claim is totally false.

Claim: The US government has put BR Ambedkar’s poster on its long-journey train.

Conclusion: The claim is false and the image was superimposed on a typical Delhi Metro train.

Rating: Misrepresentation —
