Israel testing super-fast broadband network 10G in Gaza? Fact Check

A social media post is being shared widely with a claim that Israel has started testing 10G in Gaza. The claim put out in Hindi reads:

Its English translation reads:
“Israel in Gaza
Testing of 10G has started,
Many more “hacked sims” than
Mobile is out of network!
#Stand_with_Israel.”
It has been shared here, here and here.

FACT CHECK

Our quick search for 10G yielded no result on Google or other search engines as currently 6G research is the only research arena being undertaken in many countries, including Israel. In fact, Israel introduced 5G on Sept. 29, 2020 and the country has, of course, undertaken research on 6G as part of its national policy.

The United States and China have already begun working on the development of sixth-generation communication infrastructures (6G). Other countries such as Finland, South Korea, and Japan have begun promoting preliminary research and development of 6G applications.

There is a vision paper on possible 10G put out in January of 2019 by the global cable industry toward building super-fast broadband networks that would be capable of delivering 10 gigabits per second, or 10G. But this research remains still at a vision status as currently research is going on across the globe on 6G speeds of Internet.

When 6G is not yet a functioning technology, the claim of testing 10G never arises and remains a remote possibility. Hence, the claim of Israel testing 10G is totally false.

Claim: Israel has started testing 10G technology in Gaza.
Conclusion: No 10G technology has been undertaken for research and it’s still at a Vision Stage by global cable industry as many nations are conducting research on 6G currently, let alone Israel testing 10G in Gaza.

Rating: Totally False — Five rating
