Video ridiculing SP goes viral in UP ahead of elections with wrong claims; Fact Check

Ahead of the elections in Uttar Pradesh. several social media posts have shared a song claiming that it had been “composed by Muslims” to trigger anti-Hindu sentiment among the people. The song could be heard in this 29-second long clip shared on Twitter on November 7.

The lyrics in Hindi translate as: “If Samajwadi Party is voted to power, the construction of Ram temple will cease. Muslim flags will fly and saffron flags will be brought down.” It was shared with the caption that said:”This song composed by Muslim community is an eye-opener for Hindus. We can see the truth of the Samajwadi Party. Even then some idiotic Hindus in the name of caste are dreaming to see Samajwadi in power.”

As elections are unfolding in UP, Samajwadi Party is emerging as a strong opponent to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the post makes a reference to the Ram temple being built in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The clip was also shared on Twitter here and here.

FACT CHECK

When we searched for the original video on Youtube, it showed that the composer of the song is a Hindu and not a Muslim as the posts claim. It was uploaded on Youtube on Sept 30, 2021 with credits to Sandeep Acharya, who had earlier too uploaded several videos claiming himself to be a supporter of BJP.

News reports showed that he openly defended his songs. In his Facebook post on October 8: “Some Hindus think this song is anti-Hindu. But this song has been composed by me to warn my Hindu brothers that if the Samajwadi Party comes to power then these things might happen.”

Claim: Anti-Samajvadi Party video uploaded by Muslims.
Conclusion: False as BJP supporter uploaded the video himself.
Rating: Misrepresentation — ???
